The home of Vesuwe Benjamin, a worker at a Catholic
church in Gboko, Benue state, was reportedly searched
by the Nigerian military.

Benjamin who accused Nigerian soldiers of being biased
said his house and the entire parish was ransacked by the
soldiers.

He noted that the Fulani herdsmen go about with heavy
weapons and no one harasses them.

Lamenting the search by the military men, Benjamin wrote
on Facebook: “ Today my house and the entire parish was
turned inside out by the military in-search for weapons.
They say I keep weapons, for heaven sake, I don't do
weapon. The Fulani herdsmen go about with heavy weapons
killing innocent people and never a day has any one of them
been harassed by the military. There are instances where
the military have even assisted them to carry out their
attacks on Defenseless citizens. The soldiers we have in this
country are one sided. Why are they trying to divide the
very country they are called to defend on religious line.
Would they have done this to an imam or the mosque".

Nigerians are not happy with this and are wondering how
the country got to this point. Some are accusing the military
of being corrupt while others are calling on the church to
rise up against this injustice.

The Nnamdi Kanu led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,
and it’s Directorate of States yesterday said there is no more
space for tyranny and repressive government in Africa,
saying that the alleged repressive and tyrannical
government going on in Nigeria will fissile out in no distant
time.

A statement by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr
Emma Powerful said that the Free Nnamdi Kanu march in
Abuja, led by Prince Deji Adeyanju shows that if people
stand up for truth together at the same time there will be no
space for tyranny and repressive government in Africa.

IPOB therefore commended all the Pro-Demcracy groups,
Concerned Nigerians and other leading activist who
participated in the Free Nnamdi Kanu march in Abuja, and
thanked Prince Dejl Adeyanju for his exceptional bravery
and courage in the face tyrannical intimidation.

“In a society as apathetic as Nigeria, very rare breed of
people can boldly stand to challenge the injustice of a
judicial system frightened into obeying the dictates of a
brutal dictator against every tenet and norm of democratic
governance and the rule of law.

“What he and other activists have done today by their
actions goes to show that if many people stand up for the
truth together at the same time, there won’t be any space in
Africa for tyranny and repressive regimes like the one
people are forced to endure under this intellectually and
morally bankrupt regime in Nigeria.”

IPOB said “the concerted fight against the rights of
individuals, the endless humiliation of those unfortunate to
find themselves in Nigeria by the security agencies
especially the police and DSS under the watch of this present
tyrannical All Progressives Congress, APC, government,
coupled with docile and easily manipulable judiciary must
be brought to an end.”

“For injustice to end the entire population must rise up as
one to reject it as Deji Adeyanju has tried to do.
Prince Deji Adeyanju and his group the Pro-Democracy and
Concerned Nigerian who stood against the injustice of APC
Government directed against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
and others detained illegally alongside him is commendable
and we welcome it.

“The step taken by Prince Deji Adeyanju and his group has
shown that there are still some good people left who believe
in equity and justice to all irrespective of ethnic nationality.

“Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has proven over the years
that truth cannot be extinguished no matter how hard the
oppressors try. He has proven to Biafrans and Nigerians
alike that it is better to stand on the truth than to be a slave
in the land of your ancestors.”

- More than 100 Afghan soldiers were killed in a Taliban
attack on an army base in northern Afghanistan
- The fight lasted for several hours near the city of
Mazar-e Sharif in northern Balkh province
- The insurgents targeted those leaving Friday prayers
at the base’s mosque, as well as others in a canteen.

More than 100 Afghan soldiers were killed or wounded in a
Taliban attack on an army base on Friday, April 21, the
defence ministry has confirmed.

BBC reports that the fighting lasted for several hours near
the city of Mazar-e Sharif in northern Balkh province.

The Taliban said in a statement they had carried out the
attack, using bombers to breach defences.

Earlier estimates put the death toll as high as 134, but a
statement from the defence ministry on Saturday, April 22,
confirmed more than 100 soldiers had been "killed or
injured" but a security official in Mazar-e Sharif told the BBC
that more than 100 had died, including a top military
commander.

At least 10 Taliban militants were killed in the fight and one
attacker was detained.

A military spokesman said the Taliban fighters wore army
uniforms and drove through military checkpoints before
launching the raid.

Relatives of some of the soldiers gathered outside the base
to take possession of coffins. They all questioned the
security measures in place at the main entrance.

Jan Agah, whose nephews were serving at the base died and
another injured in the attack, said "If strict inspections had
taken place, the attackers would not have passed the first
gate."

The base at Mazar-e-Sharif is home to the Afghan National
Army's 209th Corps, responsible for providing security to
most of northern Afghanistan, including Kunduz province -
which has seen heavy recent fighting.

- Russian Supreme court has banned Jehovah Witnesses.
- The Court labeled them as extremists.
- The Christian body however vowed to legally fight the
ban.

Russia’s Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that Jehovah’s
Witnesses was an “extremist” organisation and must hand
over all its property to the state, Russian news agencies
reported.

Interfax News Agency quoted Sergei Cherepanov, a
Jehovah’s Witnesses representative, as saying that the group
will appeal the decision in the European Court of Human
Rights.

Russian authorities have put several of the group’s
publications on a list of banned extremist literature and
prosecutors have long cast it as an organisation that
destroys families, fosters hatred and threatens lives.

The group, a United States-based non-trinitarian Christian
denomination known for its door-to-door preaching and
rejection of military service and blood transfusions, says this
description is false.

But Russia has been most outspoken in portraying it as an
extremist cult.
Its Russian branch, based near St Petersburg, has regularly
rejected this allegation.

It has said a ban would directly affect around 400 of its
groups and have an impact on all of its 2,277 religious
groups in Russia, where it says it has 175,000 followers.

Two Air Peace aircrafts were grounded at Murtala
Muhammed Airport in Lagos on Thursday morning, after
they collided on the departure ramp.

One of the aircrafts, a Boeing 737 with the registration mark
5N-BQR, was being towed for departure, before it made
contact with the stabiliser of another Air Peace B737 aircraft

incident in a statement.

“The points of contact of the two aircraft were only slightly
impacted, but we took the cautious decision to declare them
unserviceable to enable a proper investigation of the
incident,” Mr. Iwarah said.

“There were no passengers on the two aircraft involved in
the incident. We have also revised our flight schedule to
cater to our esteemed guests on the 14 sectors the two
aircraft were scheduled to service today.

Nine Nigerian soldiers were killed and 14 others are missing
feared abducted after an attack this week by suspected Boko
Haram jihadists in the violence-torn northeast, security
sources said on thursday.

Authorities had on Tuesday said five soldiers were killed and
five others injured in the raid on a military post near the
village of Sabon Garin Kimba about 140 kilometres (90
miles) from Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram.

“The number of fatalities on our side has risen to nine with
the discovery of four more bodies of our troops,” said a
military officer with knowledge of the incident.
“Since the attack 14 other soldiers remain missing. Their fate
is unknown,” said the officer who asked to remain
anonymous because he was not authorised to speak on the
incident.

Scores of fighters loyal to the Boko Haram faction headed by
Abu Musab Al-Barnawi stormed the checkpoint late Monday.
The Islamic State group last year appointed Al-Barnawi as
head of Boko Haram, replacing long-time leader Abubakar
Shekau.

Mustapha Karimbe, a member of an anti-Boko Haram
militia, said he feared the missing soldiers had been seized.

“Fourteen soldiers are unaccounted for, they have been
missing since the attack and the fear is that they have have
been abducted by the terrorists,” Karimbe said.
The jihadists carrying heavy weapons engaged troops at the
checkpoint in a shootout and forced the soldiers to
withdraw. Karimbe said the jihadists took military vehicles
and burned three armoured cars along with makeshift
sheds.

This was the second attack on the same military checkpoint
in under a month.
Late last month, jihadists dressed in Nigerian military
uniforms attacked the checkpoint and forced soldiers to
withdraw before looting food and medical supplies from the
village.

Boko Haram has in recent weeks intensified attacks on
military targets in the northeast.
The insurgency began in northeast Nigeria and has spread to
Chad, Cameroon and Niger, claiming more than 20,000 lives
and displacing 2.6 million people.
